This week at Trinity
Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have an indoor Lenten service at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, featuring the Holden Evening Prayer liturgy.
Pastoral Intern Matthew Engum will be preaching on “Presence” as part of the Lenten theme, ”Re-Creation: What Gives You Life?” Following the services those who preordered the “soup to go” may pick it up in the Gathering Area.
First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St., Johnson City: For the First Sunday of Lent, our online worship service will feature the sermon “Won’t You be a Neighbor” by Associate Pastor Gary Ihfe. The sermon is from the series from the Gospel of Luke and will focus on chapter 10:25-42. The service can be found at 10:30 a.m. at 1stchurchjc.org, on Facebook, or YouTube. All in-person meetings remain suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, 197 Suncrest St., Gray: During our renovation project we will meet in the Family Life Center for all services. VIROQUA –The NRCS and engineering teams working on the Watershed Study of Coon Creek and West Fork Kickapoo watersheds to help LaCrosse, Monroe and Vernon counties determine what to do with the five flood control dams that breached in the 2018 flood event are continuing to move forward. At this time, the engineering team is refining the very complicated water modeling for both watersheds. The engineering team presented preliminary alternatives to representatives from the three counties on January 19. With feedback from that discussion, the team has gone back and is further developing alternatives emphasizing upland treatments. Lebanon Hospital Foundation Offers New Scholarship February 14, 2021 SHARE
The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees announces the creation of a new scholarship, the Julietta A. Pape Scholarship. The scholarship was made possible by a generous grant from the Julietta A. Pape Fund of the Lutheran Funds of InFaith Community Foundation.
Pape was born in 1927 at home on a family farm southeast of Lebanon. She passed away in August 2020 at age 93 and was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Pape graduated from Lebanon High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State College and a master’s degree from the University of Oregon. She taught elementary and middle school in Corvallis for many years. Pape was a consistent and generous annual donor to the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation.
