When 9-year-old Trinity Koshinsky’s mom died unexpectedly this month at their Jeannette home, two Jeannette police officers who responded to the scene knew they had to help Trinity have a happy Christmas. On Sunday, those officers led the way in their cruisers, lights flashing, so Santa Claus could make a special delivery. Pulling up to the North Railroad Street home in Penn where Trinity Koshinsky now lives with her grandmother, Janice, Santa hopped out of a Jeannette firetruck, bringing with him over 30 brightly wrapped presents.

Last weekend, Wolf suspended all indoor dining, closed entertainment venues, limited indoor gatherings to 10 people and outdoor gatherings to 50 and restricted all other in-person businesses to 50% of normal capacity in an attempt to stop the recent surge of coronavirus cases statewide. The orders expire Jan. 4. Albert said that his 40 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, district judge and, now, sheriff taught him there is a delicate balance between enforcing government mandates and “at the same time protecting individual civil liberties.”

Catholics in the Greensburg Diocese are celebrating an early Christmas gift from Rome: the appointment of one of their own, Msgr. Larry J. Kulick, as bishop-elect. Pope Francis announced the appointment of Kulick, a Leechburg native, as the sixth bishop of the diocese early Friday. The appointment of the 54-year-old priest, who has spent his entire career in the diocese, marks the first time parishioners in the Greensburg Diocese have had cause to celebrate the elevation of a local priest to the bishop’s office.

Trafford man accused of attacking 3 people

A Trafford man is accused by police of attacking three people on Third Street in the borough Thursday morning, according to court papers. Alfred H. Tournay III, 53, is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, criminal mischief, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment. Police were called to Third Street at 7 a.m. for a reported domestic incidents. Police say Tournay walked into a sleeping woman’s bedroom and began screaming and throwing things at her, according to court papers. As the woman ran out of the house, Tournay, the report says, continued to throw things at her before tossing her to the ground outside. She was hospitalized for treatment of facial cuts.
