Hundreds turn out for funeral of retired corrections officer, war veteran who died from COVID at age 55

Hundreds of people turned out in inclement weather Monday and pouring rain Sunday to offer condolences to the family and friends of James Heise, 55, a retired corrections officer and Desert Storm military veteran who died from COVID-19, a funeral director and family friend said.
Heise, of Mantua, Gloucester County, passed away on Feb. 17 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. He spent 58 days there and 13 at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. He marked his 55th birthday in the hospital two weeks before he died.

Police are searching for a gunman who they say killed a 16-year-old outside a 7-Eleven in Southwest Philadelphia last week because the teen looked at him in a way that made him feel disrespected.
“What are you looking at?” police say the man asked the teen when the two encountered each other inside the store.
“What are you looking at?” Kahlief Myrick responded, according to his family.
The man, believed to be in his mid-20s, waited outside for the teen to leave the store and then shot him in the chest, police said.
