Derek Helton knelt down at the 43 yard line. His roommate, best friend and placekicking partner, Josh Jasper, went through his usual pre-kick routine: three steps back and two over to the left. Joey Crappell stood over the football at the 36 yard line, flanked by eight teammates, four on his left and right-hand side.
It’s October 9, 2010 in Gainesville, Florida. The LSU Tigers are trailing the Florida Gators 29-26 with 35 seconds left in regulation. Jasper lined up for a 53-yard field goal to tie the game and hopefully force overtime in The Swamp.

While Gainesville may be a city landlocked in the middle of Florida, its lively food scene still manages to foster a cult following and rivals its culinary competition around the state.
Some restaurants may have shut their doors for good, such as Emiliano’s Cafe in 2019 and a slew of fan favorites this year, due to hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons. But Gainesville’s entrepreneurial environment has allowed the birth of many establishments, including Satch Squared at the 4th Avenue Food Park and a new food trailer for Halo Potato Donuts.

It’s hard to write about LSU without imaging everything in the voice of head coach Ed Orgeron. And truthfully, that might be a more entertaining product than the Tigers have put on the field this season. When you’re fresh off a national championship, you’ve got some leeway, but both Coach O and college football betting enthusiasts alike will need plenty of it when the Tigers meet highly-ranked Florida this weekend.
