HARRISBURG The classic-rock songs of ZZ Top and Marshall Tucker Band will be performed May 1 in a virtual concert benefiting the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Legion.
Tribute bands Brothers & Friends (Marshall Tucker) and Sharp Dressed Band (ZZ Top) will entertain. Tickets to watch from home are $10 at https://virtualtributeconcerts.com/
People can select a “Buy Ticket & Support the Mission” button for $15 to buy a ticket to the concert and donate an extra $5 to The Pennsylvania American Legion.
The American Legion is a nonprofit veteran service organization that supports veterans, current service men and women, their families and the community.
South Coatesville residents now have answers regarding a noxious smell coming from the Pennsylvania American Waterâs wastewater treatment plant on Gibbons Avenue.
Borough officials explained how they are dealing with the nuisance odor during the April 13 meeting held on Zoom.
âThere are so many demands for us to fix the problem,â Borough Manager Allen Smith said.
Council member Renee Carey read a March 9 letter from Pennsylvania American Water on their recent efforts to combat the redolence. She read site contractors are installing covers on existing digesters along with adding another digester. In the beginning of May, the company will spray an odor controlling chemical, consisting of a lemon scent.
Emergency repairs to a water main closed down South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre between Northampton Street and Public Square for most of Tuesday.
Some businesses, including Boscovâs department store, closed at 5 p.m. when water was expected to be shut off completely.
Crews worked in front of Boscovâs for most of the day, but numerous business owners along South Main Street and on Public Square said they never lost water and remained open.
The work was completed by 6:15 p.m. and water service was fully restored, said Susan Turcmanovich, a spokeswoman for Pennsylvania American Water.
Turcmanovich said businesses in the area were notified on Monday via an automated telephone call that water service could be disrupted.

Up to 77 percent of Americans have reported seeing signs of a water leak, according to recent American Water survey on household leaks
More than two in three Americans have experienced a leak at their home, according to a recent survey conducted by global research agency Opinium on behalf of Pennsylvania American Water in an effort to better understand Americans’ awareness of household leaks.
The results coincide with the annual recognition of Fix a Leak Week (March 15-21, 2021), a national campaign led by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) each year that helps raise awareness about leaks and other water issues that contribute to water waste within homes.
