The bill would put the National Guard under the authority of the state Health Department so it could provide more assistance in the commonwealth s vaccination efforts.The Pennsylvania General Assembly unanimously passed the bill in the House and Senate.What’s in the bill?The National Guard would work under the guidance of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services to help collect, secure and transport doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.National Guard members who have the appropriate training would also be allowed to give the vaccine.The legislation also calls for the creation of vaccine distribution sites at different locations across the state.The governor would need to submit a written report to the General Assembly within 45 days of signing the legislation detailing how the National Guard would be used in the state s vaccination efforts.According to the Becker s Hospital Review, Pennsylvania ranks 46 in the nat
