LOCK HAVEN Clinton County Commissioner Jeffrey Snyder got a surprise at Thursday’s county commissioners meeting.
The commissioners had secretly invited Lisa Schaefer, executive director of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), to the Zoom meeting to offer some pretty special congratulations to the three-term commissioner. It seems Gov. Tom Wolf and Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin announced that Snyder is a recipient of the 2021 Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence.
Snyder, who served as president of CCAP last year, was nominated by CCAP for the honor which is bestowed on communities, organizations and individuals for their dedication and commitment to strengthen their communities and better serve their residents.

Governor Tom Wolf today signed the 14th renewal of his January 2018 opioid disaster declaration to help the state fight the opioid and heroin epidemic.
This declaration was the first of its kind for a public health emergency in Pennsylvania that proves to be an important tool to allow the state to respond quickly, adapt to developing needs, increase access to treatment and save lives.

We ve been here before: After Newtown, after Parkland, after the protests of 2020, after Atlanta, after Boulder - the chance to really reimagine public safety has sat right in front of us. And every time, thanks to inertia and the intractable nature of our politics, those opportunities have slipped from our grasp.
So from the U.S. Capitol to the halls of statehouses across the country, Chauvin s guilty verdict in the death of George Floyd in May 2020 has reignited calls for police reform. And lawmakers from Pennsylvania are among them.
