The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Thursday updated its mask order to reflect new Centers for Disease Control guidance that says individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear face coverings or practice social distancing in most places indoors or outdoors.
The CDC handed down the new guidance earlier in the day. According to the health department, the new guidelines go into effect in Pennsylvania immediately.

HARRISBURG, Pa. The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Thursday announced the state will follow suit after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks for indoor and outdoor activities, except where required to by law.
Acting Department of Health Secretary Alison Beam said the commonwealth s mask order reflects the announcement by the CDC.
The firm is an Atlanta-based employment agency hired to bring on 250 contact tracers in 35 days, as well as new employees every two weeks to keep up with the pandemic.
A few particular employees of Insight Global may be responsible for the breach, during which they disregarded security protocols, officials said.
The employees allegedly created copies of residents personal information and then sent the data to sources outside of the contact tracing system. We are extremely dismayed that employees from Insight Global acted in a way that may have compromised this type of information and sincerely apologize to all impacted individuals, Barry Ciccocioppo the communications director for the Department of Health, told Patch.

Gov. Mike DeWine promised the state could reopen when it reports 50 cases per 100,000 people over two weeks. Four weeks ago, that figure hovered around 135 per 100,000. This week, it rose to 200 cases per 100,000 four times the state goal.
