State will more than double number of state parks open early for trout anglers Updated Mar 09, 2021; Posted Mar 09, 2021 The Great White Fleet of Pennsylvania Fish and Boat stocking trucks will deliver more than 3.2 million trout to streams and lakes across Pennsylvania. Facebook Share Campsites at an additional 16 state parks will be available for trout anglers on Friday, April 2, allowing them to stay overnight in advance of the new statewide trout fishing season opening day on Saturday, April 3, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced today. More than 2,300 campsites at 34 state parks will be available. “We know how trout fishing and state park camping often go hand in hand and we are doing our best to facilitate these traditional recreational pursuits,” said Cindy Adams Dunn, secretary of DCNR.

(Photo by Matt Kane, The Nature Conservancy) Facebook Share The Pennsylvania and Delaware chapter of The Nature Conservancy has closed on a land deal to expand its existing Cove Mountain Preserve in Perry County, creating a 14-mile stretch of protected land along Blue Mountain, which also is known as the Kittatinny Ridge. The purchase expands the preserve from 353 to 1,411 acres and connects it to Pennsylvania Game Commission state game lands. An additional 213 acres will be transferred to the commission in the near future, according to the conservancy.
