The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issued a release this afternoon that announced a speed limit reduction on portions of two interstates, so if you’re traveling these main highways today or tomorrow, please be aware. Also, Your Hometown Radio Stations remind you to be careful on all area roads and don’t drive anywhere unless you have to.

Due to the severity of the winter storm, PennDOT is temporarily reducing the speed limit on two roadways in the District 10 region.
PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel but those who must head out will see speeds reduced to 45 mph on the following highways:
Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Interstate 95;
All eastbound and westbound miles of Interstate 78;
Interstate 80 from Interstate 99 to the New Jersey border;
All northbound and southbound miles of Interstate 81;
All northbound and southbound miles of Interstate 83;
All eastbound and westbound miles of Interstate 84;
Interstate 95 from the Delaware border to the New Jersey border;
All eastbound and westbound miles of Interstate 283;
All northbound and southbound miles of Interstate 380;
Interstate 476 from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Interstate 95;
All eastbound and westbound miles of Interstate 676;
All northbound and southbound miles of Interstate 295;
All eastbound and westbound miles on the Pennsylvania Turnpike from the Breezewood interchange to the New Jersey border; and
Pa., N.J. both under emergency declarations for winter storm

The governors of Pennsylvania and New Jersey both invoked emergency powers to deal with the potential for a foot or more of snow slamming communities Wednesday into Thursday.
Ahead of the storm, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf signed a proclamation of disaster emergency. The storm which will bring strong winds and heavy, wet snow is expected to cause power outages and could bring down trees and power lines.

The snowstorm barreling towards the midstate is slated to create treacherous road conditions and disrupt services such as electric power. Officials are advising everyone to stay off the roads.

Central Pennsylvania is on track to see among the highest accumulations expected from what could turn out to be a historic December winter storm.
The midstate could see as much as two feet of snow from the storm, which is expected to move hard and fast through the mid-Atlantic beginning Wednesday morning and last through to Thursday morning The 11 p.m. forecast remained aligned with what has been predicted throughout the day.
