Bruce Castor is said to have cut a deal with Cosby that if he testified in a civil deposition he would not face trial criminally. The agreement convinced Cosby to make incriminating statements about drugging women but that was ultimately used against him at trial.
In light of these circumstances, the subsequent decision by successor D.A.s to prosecute Cosby violated Cosby s due process rights, the judges wrote.

While she turned off the comments under the post, her tweet ignited a slew of angry responses. Rashad responded to the stinging criticism with another post hours later.
I think that @canidmajor and @Hawaii Jake are drawing the wrong conclusions from this. And please, I am in no way supporting Cosby or what he did.
It’s a mistake to say “this is why women don’t report sex crimes” in the context of Cosby’s release. The judge sentenced Cosby after the jury found him guilty. There is not one iota of question about guilt. The women who testified were listened to and believed; their word was golden and ther testimony righteous.
The guilty person – the person who go Cosby released – was the Pennsylvania prosecutor who lied to the defense and broke an agreement. It was his action – not anything exculpatory that Cosby did or said – that got him off.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Bill Cosby was freed from prison on Wednesday after Pennsylvania’s highest court overturned his sexual assault conviction.
The decision came after the state’s Supreme Court said Cosby’s prosecutor was bound by an agreement made with his predecessor not to charge him. In 2005, the former district attorney publicly announced he would not criminally charge Cosby after Andrea Constand reported he sexually assaulted her.
