Bangor teen dies in Monroe County crash, police say Updated Jan 24, 2021; A Bangor teen was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in Monroe County, state police said. Pennsylvania State Police in Stroudsburg said the accident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. along Poplar Valley Road West in Hamilton Township. The 17-year-old female driver lost control of her 2009 Hyundai Elantra, which left the roadway and eventually hit a tree, according to police. At one point, the car became airborne and flipped over several times after traveling over the crest of a hill, police said. State police said a high rate of speed was a factor in the accident. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
