The owner of a State College-based mechanical contractor will serve time in jail after pleading guilty in March to charges that his company underpaid workers’ wages and benefits for prevailing-wage jobs over five years.
Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman on Monday sentenced Scott Good, the founder and owner of Goodco Mechanical, to a minimum of 120 days in county jail, as well as three years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and a fine. Goodco was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and, as part of a plea agreement with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, will pay more than $64,000 in restitution.

During two drug busts earlier this week, Altoona police seized nearly 10,000 packets of heroin with a combined street value of $170,000, an Altoona Police Department spokesman said.

Acting on information from confidential sources, police raided a location Sunday, where they discovered about $8,700 in cash and 74 bricks of suspected heroin, or about 3,700 individual packets, valued at about $70,000, Plummer said.
On Monday, Altoona police and Blair County Drug Task Force members executed a search warrant on a vehicle driven by Braddock resident Sir-Jihad Z. Valcin, 18, in connection with the previously seized heroin, police reported.

Earlier this week, Acting U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced that Andrew Welty, 29, was sentenced in federal court to serve 36 months in prison followed by six years of supervised release for violating federal narcotics law.
From September 2017 to November 2019, Welty conspired with the intent to distribute quantities of fentanyl and heroin as well as possession with intent to distribute a quantity of fentanyl.
The prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation.
