South Dakota State Supreme Court to begin recreational & medicinal marijuana oral arguments on Wednesday
The South Dakota State Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments on Amendment A on Wednesday, April 28.
April 27, 2021
Amendment A legalizes medical and recreational marijuana and was written to go into effect July first.
54-percent of South Dakota voters voted in favor of Amendment A.
But weeks after the November election and at the direction of Governor Kristi Noem, Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom and South Dakota Highway Patrol Commander Colonel Rick Miller filed a lawsuit against the amendment, arguing constitutional amendments should only tackle one subject and not two.
