PENNSVILLE, NJ The community is mourning the loss of a U.S. Marine from South Jersey who died during a basic training exercise last week.
Private First Class Dalton Beals, of Pennsville, died in a training accident at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina, according to officials. Private First Class Beals was beloved by his family, his community, and his state, Gov. Phil Murphy said in announcing that flags would be flown half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on Wednesday. His recent passing is a tragic loss for New Jersey and for our country. Pfc. Trenton, N.J. (Tribune News Service) â Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday said the Marine from New Jersey killed in a training exercise last week âwas made of the stuff of which all great Marines are made.â
Pfc. Dalton Beals, 19, of Pennsville died Friday in Parris Island, South Carolina, two weeks before he was scheduled to graduate, the Marines said.
Murphy opened his coronavirus press conference in Trenton by speaking briefly about Beals, who played football, wrestled and was on the track and field team at Pennsville Memorial High School before graduating in 2020.
