Mindoro man arrested after three-county chase

WESTERN WISCONSIN (WQOW) - A man is in custody after officers say he led them on a 28-mile high-speed chase across parts of three area counties. Frederick Clements, 23, of Mindoro was arrested Tuesday afternoon after the chase that hit speeds of 110 miles per hour. It started when a Pepin County Sheriff s deputy tried to stop him for speeding. The chase was called off for safety reasons but resumed when his small pickup truck was observed speeding again on Highway 35. The chase went into Buffalo County but was called off again before entering Alma. Officials say Clements was again spotted speeding, and the pursuit resumed. A tire deflation device was used to deflate three of the truck s tires, and deputies boxed in his vehicle a short time later and arrested Clements. He is now in jail, with felony charges expected.

(WKBT) Two people suffered substantial injuries and three sustained minor injuries when a pickup crossed the centerline and hit two motorcycles at about 5 p.m. Saturday on State Hwy. 35 in Nelson Township, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department. Richard J. Allemann, 52, of Cochrane, Wis., was driving a 2017 Toyota 4-Runner when he fell asleep at the wheel, drifted across the centerline and struck a 2020 Harley-Davidson driven by Andrew R. Petrenko, 30, of Fox Lake, Ill., and a 2016 Harley driven by Jonathan S. Brady, 28, of Ingleside, Ill., at the intersection with State Hwy. 25, according to a sheriff’s department news release issued Tuesday.

Buffalo County investigating woman s death

NELSON, Wis. (WKBT) The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a woman was fatally shot Sunday in rural Nelson, Wis. According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, dispatchers received a call at about 9 p.m. Sunday from a man who said he had shot and killed the woman at a residence near Nelson. When officers arrived, they found the deceased woman and took the caller into custody. A teenager in the home was unharmed. Authorities say the homicide was an isolated incident and the public is not at risk. Also assisting the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and DCI in this investigation are Buffalo County Coroner’s Office, Buffalo County Human Services, Buffalo County Victim Witness Coordinator, DOJ Office of Crime Victim Services, Pepin County Sheriff’s Office, Western Buffalo County Ambulance Service, Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory, and Wisconsin State Patrol.

Longtime drug investigation arrests trio, more busts expected

PEPIN COUNTY — After a yearlong drug investigation three men were taken into custody Friday and authorities expect more arrests will come from it. According to the Pepin County Sheriff s Office, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant on Friday at a rural Pepin County home, which resulted in multiple felony charges for the three men. Anthony B. Nelson, 32, of Arkansaw, Matthew R. Schumacher, 27, of Menomonie and Chad J. Mason, 44, of Arkansaw were all arrested for delivery and possession of methamphetamine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Nelson also is accused of maintaining a drug trafficking house and being a felon in possession of firearms.
