Warning not to break lockdown restrictions to visit Preseli hills if it snows

STAY home and don’t travel to the Preseli Hills. That’s the message from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Dyfed-Powys Police and Pembrokeshire County Council with more snow forecast in the coming days. The appeal comes after hundreds of people headed to the Preselis when it snowed last month. The current Alert Level 4 restrictions in Wales require people to stay at home and not to travel without reasonable excuse. Exercise should begin and end at home and you must not drive to a location away from home for this purpose, unless you need to due to specific health or mobility issues.

PEMBROKESHIRE: Summer house | Tivyside Advertiser

WITH more people working from home, applications for extra working or living space will become more likely a member of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park’s development management committee has said. The committee met on Wednesday (January 27) and one application for consideration was on  the agenda due to a community council objection raising concerns about why it was needed. Approval was given for a rear extension, front porch along with a new double garage and summer house at Rhydyfferm near St Nicholas, north Pembrokeshire. Cllr Di Clements said that more people were working from home and this meant more space was needed to accommodate them, so a summer house on top of a garage could be an ideal space.

Abereiddy car park changes approved

Changes to parking at Abereiddy have been made official with planning permission from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The “top field” will be available for parking all year, with charges in place April to September with six disabled spaces nearer the sea front, where water sport operators will also be located. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park’s development management committee approved that delegated permission be granted following the finalisation of condition amendments for the “regularisation of existing use of Abereiddy Common Car Park.” The application is made by Man Up UK Activities Ltd and includes limiting the car park to six disabled spaces with drop off and turning area, as well as a change of use for part of an agricultural field to use as a car park with an attendant’s hut.

Saundersfoot hotel staff accommodation application deferred

An application for staff accommodation for a Saundersfoot hotel and spa will be decided after the community council sees revised plans. Andrew Evans, owner of St Brides Spa Hotel, applied to build a two-storey extension, along with modernisation of the existing building, at Coed-derw, St Brides Hill, and turn into 18 self-contained studio rooms. Mr Evans told members of the National Park’s development management committee that the accommodation would “exclusively” be for staff of the hotel, and a Section 106 agreement to ensure that could be made. He added it would provide “high standard, safe, dedicated staff accommodation.” Revised plans, with a reduction in size of the extension and a movement away from neighbours, were presented to the committee on Wednesday, January 27 with planning officers still having concerns about its “sheer scale.”
