Illinois American Water’s Sterling District Celebrates 5 Years of Working Safely STERLING, Ill. (Business Wire) Illinois American Water’s Sterling District reached a significant safety milestone earlier this month. The local water service team celebrated five years without experiencing any lost-time accidents on Dec. 8, 2020.
Illinois American Water employees are provided with critical Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and regular safety training. During the coronavirus pandemic, water company employees have also been equipped with face masks, hand sanitizer and more. Thermometers and additional safety equipment like social distancing signage have also been provided.
Charlotte Dunne, operations superintendent for the Sterling District, credited the local team for their commitment. “The Sterling team makes safety their top priority - pandemic or no pandemic. The team’s commitment hasn’t changed. If anything, it is emphasized.”

Rhonda Carter Adams, Workforce and Supplier Diversity Program Manager, Illinois American Water, has been recognized with a statewide award for her contributions to diversifying business in Illinois.
On Dec. 1, Adams received the
Jerry Garland Award for Excellence in Supplier Diversity from the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council (IUBDC). The award originated in 2019 and is named in memory of former Illinois American Water Supplier Diversity Manager
Jerry Garland. It is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates exceptional results in advancing the practice of inclusion and diversity. The award was announced at the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council (IUBDC) annual Networking and Awards event virtually.

Illinois American Water President Justin Ladner today announced the Company s acquisition of the Four Lakes Village Condominium Homeowners Association (Four Lakes) water distribution system. The purchase adds 57 connections serving approximately 1,300 households in Lisle, Ill. to Illinois American Water s Chicago Metro service area.
