The Ravens are grieving Thursday morning, as former Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro has passed away at just 28 years old.
Taliaferro played three seasons for the Ravens from 2014-2016. He died Wednesday from a reported heart attack, according to a family member. We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lorenzo Taliaferro, Head Coach John Harbaugh stated. Lorenzo was a kind, smart, respectful and determined young man – someone always committed to his teammates and well-liked by everyone in our organization. Former Baltimore Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro died Wednesday in his hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff s Office. He was 28.
Taliaferro was transported at 3:30 p.m. ET to Riverside Doctors Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A family member told WBFF-TV Fox45 in Baltimore that Taliaferro died of a heart attack.
A fourth-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2014, Taliaferro ran for 339 yards and scored five touchdowns in 19 games for the Ravens from 2014 to 2016. He struggled to stay on the field, ending each of his three seasons on injured reserve.
Taliaferro played for the Ravens for three seasons, featuring in 19 games and rushing for 339 yards and five touchdowns. He was a fourth-round draft pick in 2014 after a standout career at Coastal Carolina.
Taliaferro is the all-time single-season rushing leader for the Chanticleers, producing 1,729 yards as a senior. He earned Big South Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2013.
