NEW ORLEANS – We’re less than six weeks away from the
2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, which were postponed until March 15 from their original date of November 21 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Even though there won’t be Regional Championships to decide which teams automatically advance to the meet, we figured it was high time to release the first edition of the
NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2020 season to see how things are shaping up.
NOTE: Only those teams who competed and/or have the intention to compete prior to the completion of the season are eligible for ranking.

Well, we’ve made it to February. Thus far, 2021 hasn’t shown itself to be a significant improvement over 2020. I’m also neck deep in prepping the ranch books to send to the accountant for taxes. So, maybe that clouds my judgment a bit on the quality of the year so far.
We also have another foggy morning. We had a bunch of those in January too. The old weather tale is that 90 days after fog, you will get precipitation. Between the January fog and today’s, we should be deluged with either blizzards (early April) or rain. Most current signs point to drought this summer, so it will be interesting to see which way this goes.

The consistent storyline thus far in the 2021 wrestling season is the dominance of the Iowa Hawkeyes. This team further separated itself from the rest of the Big Ten conference over the weekend with a dominating 36-6 win over No. 9 Illinois.
Questions, however, still remain around how much of a threat Penn State will be to an Iowa title and how many All-Americans Iowa can put on the podium.
N.C. State, Oklahoma State and Nebraska also will attempt to put themselves in position to battle for a team trophy in March.
