Boyd, Rowan and the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center all had upticks in lock-ups over the weekend, according to jail records. Anyone named in the locked-up list should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The following people were locked up: Boyd County Detention Center • Garry L. Cornwell, 57, of Ashland, was booked Friday on a second-offense DUI. • Gary E. Willis, 49, of Kitts Hill, was booked Friday on two bench warrants and charges of first-offense simple possession of heroin and public intoxication.

While children were searching for Easter eggs over the weekend, local law enforcement was busy searching for drugs and bench warrants, jail records show — especially in Boyd and at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, records show. Combs, 38, of Hazard, was booked Friday as a federal inmate on a first-degree promotion of contraband charge. • Autumn A. Kouns, 43, of Flatwoods, was booked Friday on a two probation violations and charges of first-offense simple possession of meth and shoplifting less than $500 in value.

Magoffin County Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking after Traffic Stop

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Mar 16, 2021 12:38 AM A Kentucky State Police Trooper conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of KY Route 40 and KY Route 1437 at 11:45 p.m. for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop, the operator of the vehicle was arrested for operating the motor vehicle under the influence. During a search of the vehicle, troopers located and seized four ounces of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and over $8,000 in cash. Jerry Shepherd, 50 of Salyersville, was arrested and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on charges of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating Motor Vehicle under Influence of Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, and several traffic and equipment violations. Trooper Ryan Hale with KSP Post 9 is leading this investigation.
