KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) â Tuesday, May 25 will mark the one-year anniversary since the death of George Floyd, and local activists and groups are planning a memorial ceremony.
Floydâs death occurred in late May 2020, when former police officer Derek Chauvin and three other officers attempted to arrest Floyd for allegedly trying to pass a fake bill.
Video footage showed that Chauvin had knelt down on Floydâs neck for about nine minutes, during which Floyd repeatedly said he couldnât breathe.
