One person was killed after suffering what police described as blunt-force trauma wounds during an assault early Friday morning in a Lubbock bar s parking lot.
Police on Friday said 66-year-old Jesus Villa was pronounced dead at Covenant Medical Center following the assault at CC s Bar and Grill in the 1600 block of 50th Street.
The Lubbock Police Department received a call regarding an assault shortly after 12:30 a.m. at a residence in the 400 block of 39th Street, according to a police news release.
Upon arrival, involved parties indicated Villa was assaulted in the parking lot of CC’s Bar and Grill and transported by private vehicle to the residence on 39th Street. Individuals attempted to tend to Villa’s blunt-force trauma wounds, but found that the injuries needed to be treated at a hospital, according to the release.

A warrant released this week revealed more details about an apparent accident shooting that left a teen dead late Monday afternoon in North Lubbock.
Investigators believe 16-year-old Elijah Morin was fatally wounded after he was struck by a bullet that went through a wall as 64-year-old Kimberly Hozempa was cleaning a gun in an adjacent room about 4:25 p.m. in the 500 block of North Flint Avenue.
According to the warrant, police received a 911 call in reference to a shooting in the 500 block of North Flint Avenue.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A 64-year-old man remains in police custody after the gun he was cleaning discharged and killed a teenager in another room.
Police have charged Kimberly Hozempa with criminal negligent homicide in the shooting death of a 16-year-old.
The Lubbock Police Department was called to a shooting just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Flint Avenue.
Police say, Hozempa told the officer he had the gun and was going to clean it. He removed the magazine, checked the gun and pointed it away from him when it accidentally went off, according to an arrest warrant issued for Hozempa.
