The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the BMPO budget for the annual period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, as approved by the BMPO Budget Committee on March 23, 2021.

Mailers promoting a 1 percent sales tax for Hillsborough County residents to fund transportation projects, which voters approved in November 2018. The Department of Revenue told businesses Tuesday March 16 to stop collecting the tax.

TAMPA â The penny on the dollar sales tax for Hillsborough County transportation officially expired Tuesday.
The state Department of Revenue instructed approximately 35,000 Hillsborough businesses to stop collecting the tax in a notice published on its web site Tuesday morning.
It means the sales tax charged on goods and services drops from 8.5 percent â what had been the highest rate in the state â to 7.5 percent.
