Singapore resumes requirement to list companies beneficial owners

Singapore resumes requirement to list companies beneficial owners Out-Law News | 09 Feb 2021 | 2:38 am | Singapore has reopened the system through which it requires companies to identify their beneficial owners to a regulator. They must do this by June or face $5,000 fines.  Companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs) have been required to keep a list of their beneficial owners in a Register of Registrable Controllers (RORC) since 2017. Last July a new requirement was introduced that meant they had to send a copy of that list to the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). That process was suspended in September but the digital system for filing RORC information was reopened on 1 February.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin sets up family office in Singapore

Bloomberg. California-based Bayshore set up the Singapore office late last year and appointed Marie Young, its deputy chief investment officer, as a director, the news agency says in a report on February 4. A check on the website of the city state’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority confirms the family office has been established and shows that it shares the same building as private lender Bank of Singapore. Family offices are dedicated companies set up to manage the personal finances of wealthy families, who also use them to fund charitable works. Brin joins other high profile ultra-rich individuals who have been setting up family offices in Singapore in recent years. They include UK entrepreneur James Dyson and China-born Shu Ping, co-founder of Haidilao, the world’s biggest chain of hotpot restaurants.
