DBKL to discuss partial closure of KL wholesale market on Wednesday

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (Jan 20) evening to discuss safety measures to be taken at Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur in Selayang following a surge in Covid-19 cases detected there. DBKL Corporate Planning Department director Khairul Azmir Ahmad said the meeting involving representatives of the National Security Council and Health Ministry will also look into closing certain sections of the market. “Closure here does not necessarily mean that the whole market will be closed. We might close some sections to make way for sanitisation. We will have to look closer at the number of Covid-19 infections at each of the fish, meat and vegetables sections, ” he said when contacted.

DBKL hopes to stage more shows in Panggung Bandaraya including Teater Muzikal Kami in 2021. - Filepic THE Federal Territories Ministry is planning to hold events held back from last year in 2021. Several programmes are in the planning stage, and their go-ahead will depend on the Covid-19 situation as well as any directive from the National Security Council (MKN). Several virtual events are also being considered to complement on-ground activities. In previous years, the anticipated events included the month-long celebration in conjunction with Federal Territory Day on Feb 1. Programmes such as Raise the Flag as well as other outdoor events have become a mainstay in the annual calendar.
