Dubai RTA launches 106 digitisation initiatives
DUBAI, February 1, 2021 Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has embarked on a roadmap encompassing 106 initiatives for the transformation of Smart Services to Digital Platforms 2020-2022. “The Digitisation Plan 2020-2022 aims to transform all services to digital platforms and improve the content of the existing digital services,” said Ahmed Mahboub, Executive Director of Smart Services, Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, RTA. “The process involves holding virtual brainstorming sessions to screen the needs of RTA’s agencies & sectors taking into consideration public feedback. We aim to cascade these in a coordinated style that systematically meets the needs. The digitisation of RTA’s services has exceeded 95% and contributed to boosting the customers happiness index to as much as 96%, and reducing customers complaints to as low as 30%.

More than 70,000 paperless transactions for internal services were processed in 2020.
With the automation of its internal services, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has saved 341,467 sheets of paper in 2020.
The RTA’s agencies and sectors have processed a total of 72,102 paperless transactions last year, from operational to administrative and protocol requests, among others.
By avoiding that use of over 300,000 sheets of paper, the authority was able to save 190 trees, said Mohammed Al Mudharreb, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, RTA.
“These results reflect our efforts to keep pace with the Dubai Paperless Strategy, aimed at completely switching to paperless transactions by 2021,” Al Mudharreb said.
