Order follows a Central Vigilance Commission probe against him Four years after he took charge as the Managing Director of Hindustan Newsprint Limited (HNL), Velloor , near here, the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has suspended R. Gopala Rao from the post, pending inquiry.
In an order dated December 31, 2020 and signed by Rao Vineet Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India, Mr. Rao has been placed under suspension with immediate effect till further orders. The order noted that the continuance of the official in the present position was likely to interfere with the process of a fair and transparent investigation.

Gujarat’s four-star hotel chain – Express Group of Hotels has shown interest to acquire seven of Neesa Leisure Ltd. (NLL)-operated Cambay Hotels. Presently, the Express Group of Hotels owns and operates three premium hotel properties in the state, two in Vadodara and one in Jamnagar.
If the acquisition successfully takes place, the Express Group will add over 800 keys to its existing portfolio of 376 rooms. These seven properties of Neesa Leisure Ltd. are located at Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad in Gujarat and at Neemrana, Udaipur, and Jaipur in Rajasthan. Bidders seem to be making a last-ditch effort to showcase to DHFL’s (Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd) Administrator and its Committee of Creditors that their bid is the best, going by the letters they have written to the key stakeholders involved in DHFL’s resolution process.
This comes ahead of the voting by the CoC on the revised bids for the debt-laden company as part of the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process.

On the NSE, the broader Nifty50 index closed the day at a record level of 13,682.70, up 115 points, or 0.85 per cent. In the intra-day trade, the index scaled an all-time peak of 13,692.35.
