Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pleased Democrats are taking steps to impeach President Donald Trump after the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
The Times reported McConnell has told associates that he believes President Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is pleased that Democrats are moving to impeach him, believing that it will make it easier to purge him from the party, according to people familiar with his thinking.
The House of Representatives started debating impeaching President Trump for a second time for inciting an insurrection just one week after the MAGA mob stormed Capitol Hill.
