COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - In the last moments of her speech presented to a very limited crowd due to the pandemic, former South Carolina and current WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson became very emotional just outside the Colonial Life Arena where she had provided the bulk of her amazing play.
Wilson, preparing for her fourth season with the Las Vegas Aces as the league’s reigning MVP was the guest of honor at Monday’s official christening of a statue of her likeness that honors her play off the court and representation of the university and athletics program away from competition.
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed goaltender
Peyton Jones to a one-year contract for the 2020-21 season. Jones will report to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League.
Jones, 24, began the 2020-21 campaign with the ECHL s Utah Grizzlies and has a 4-2-1 record through eight games with a 3.10 goals-against average and .889 save percentage.
The Langhorne, Pennsylvania, native played four seasons at Penn State University from 2016-2020, finishing his career as the program s all-time leader in games played/started (133), wins (76), saves (3,685) and shutouts (four) while ranking second all-time in goals-against average (2.88) and save percentage (.907). His 42 career victories in the Big Ten are a conference record while his eight tournament victories rank second all-time.

The Madison Prep Chargers dismantled Union Parish in the Class 3A state title game in Natchitoches on Wednesday afternoon taking home the schools first state title with the dominating 50-0 win.
The Chargers got a number of players involved as they ran away with the show both offensively and defensively.
The Chargers were led by their quarterback Zeon Chriss who took home the games Most Outstanding Player award after guiding his team to 323 total yards of offense finishing 9 of 16 from the pocket with 202 yards and three passing touchdowns. Chriss added 20 rushing attempts for 121 yards and another score.
