Prayer of the Day for Friday, May 7 - Prayers

Blessing of a New House O heavenly Father, Almighty God, we humbly beseech Thee to bless and sanctify this house and all who dwell therein and everything else in it, and do Thou vouchsafe to fill it with all good things; grant to them, O Lord, the abundance of heavenly blessings and from the richness of the earth every substance necessary for life, and finally direct their desires to the fruits of Thy mercy. At our entrance, therefore, deign to bless and sanctify this house as Thou didst deign to bless the house of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; and may the angels of Thy light, dwelling within the walk of this house, protect it and those who dwell therein. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Michael s Church: A community hub of prayer set in the heart of Enniskillen

ST. MICHAEL’S Church is a very prominent building in Enniskillen for many reasons. Architecturally speaking, its spire is a stunning sight as it stands tall in the townscape. However, accompanied by the spire of neighbouring St. Macartin’s Cathedral, its visual impact is even more striking. The two spires standing together is almost a metaphor for the close neighbourly relationship the two churches – one Roman Catholic, one Protestant – that have been nurtured through the years against the backdrop of what is often perceived as a divided nation. St. Michael’s Church was built in 1875 and although the spire and belfry were on the original building plans for the church, they were not erected until 1992, more than 100 years later.

Archbishop Justin and Lord Browne write in The Times about tackling climate change

01/05/2021 Read Archbishop Justin and Lord Browne s joint article about tackling climate change together: The pandemic has been the worst natural disaster of our lifetimes. It is a global catastrophe that has affected every one of us. Leaders have disagreed over how to handle it and what the best solutions are. And owing to its profound impact on the poorest and most marginalised people, it has forced societies around the world to confront deep moral questions. But this isn’t just true of the pandemic: the same can be said about climate change. The only difference is the speed of the impact: the pandemic up-ended all of our lives, all over the world, in a matter of weeks.
