518 Talent Shines On TV
The Yankees are taking on the Tampa Bay Rays tonight at the stadium. The Rays and the Bombers are engrossed in what seems to be another yearly battle for first place in the East. When you turn on the TV and look next to Ray’s manager, Kevin Cash, you often see Tampa’s Bench Coach, Matt Quatraro.
Quatraro was a guest on The Drive with Charlie and Dan today. Matt grew up and went to Bethlehem High School and is in their Hall of Fame. After his minor-league career he coached for a little while at UAlbany prior to his successful major league coaching career with the Rays, the Indians and now the Rays again.
Looking back over my career paths, yes paths, I can attribute both of my paths to one of my high school teachers. She lead me to where I am and where I am going next. The teacher that changed my life was my Speech Teacher and Drama Director, Mrs. Cheryl Dean.
Mrs. Dean, who was Mrs. Lankford when I was in high school, challenged me to do things I didn t know I could do, which showed me what I was meant to do and where I was meant to go. When I was a freshman in her Speech and Journalism classes, she saw something in me that I had yet to discover.
Jim Anctil remembered the time when he took his three boys to Chuck E. Cheese. The place was packed and he knew the kids really wanted to see the Chuckster himself! When Jim didn t see the big mouse, he asked the waitress where he was. She, being busier than H E double hockey sticks, snapped back at him and said, Chuck is out sick today! Jim knew that his kids would have an absolute meltdown if they didn t see that humungous rodent, so. Jim, being an amazing father and a resourceful thinking guy took the waitress aside and said, Where does Chuckie BECOME Chuckie? The waitress took him to where they keep the magical outfit. Jim asked if she wouldn t mind if HE put on the costume. She said okay, which was probably against the rules, but she took a chance and gave this family a memory they will never forget. The picture is PRICELESS!
