Moditha Dabare proved this by bagging the Golden Diamond Best Child Actor award at the recently concluded Asian Film Festival (AFF) in Los Angeles. More than 500 films competed at the event. Moditha competed against four final nominations from Australia, Canada, Venezuela and China before clinching the award for playing the role of a youth’s coming-of-age experience in Thisen Umagiliya’s ‘Catharsis’. “I did have a hope of at least getting nominated for any of the film festivals. However, after hearing the news that my name is also in the winners list of the Asian Film Festival, as the best child actor, I couldn’t believe it! I felt extremely happy. Moreover, I was elated to see my family members are more excited about it than me,” the gifted 17-year-old enthused.
