Oklahoma City Thunder Awards for the 2020-21 Season Handing out the awards for the Oklahoma City Thunder s Season Author: May 24, 2021 With the members of the Oklahoma City Thunder out of contention for the NBA awards, the InsideTheThunder.com staff handed out the Most Improved Player, Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player for OKC.  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort dazzled for the Thunder this season, but only one could capture the award of Most Improved Player.  Ty Jerome and Kenrich Williams rose above the rest.  Arriving with little expectation, both players were key cogs in the Thunder bench, and may have carved out a role in Oklahoma City for years to come.
