“During the phone call, Jaquelin stated that her husband was trying to kill her,” a detective wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.
The line suddenly went dead and the woman that Jaquelin had been speaking with dialed 911, telling police what she’d heard, according to the affidavit.
Investigators say Jaquelin Zimmerman was stabbed multiple times with a “butcher-style knife.” Her body was found face-down on the floor of the bathroom, just behind the door, according to the affidavit.

MAHWAH, N.J. - A man faces murder charges after his wife was found stabbed to death in a bathroom at their northern New Jersey townhome.
Dieter Zimmermann, 73, of Mahwah, also faces weapons charges stemming from the death of 69-year-old Jaquelin Zimmerman, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor s Office. Police found her body on a bathroom floor when they responded to the Indian Field Court home around 8 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic violence incident.
Dieter Zimmermann used a kitchen knife to kill his wife and had several scratches and a bleeding cut on his finger, authorities said.

The family of a mother of two young children, who was hit by a pickup truck and killed in Bergen County last year, has settled a lawsuit against the driver for $1.25 million, their attorney said Tuesday.
Maria Andino, 39, was walking in a marked crosswalk on Feb. 15, 2020, when she was fatally struck on Shaler Boulevard in Ridgefield, according to the suit filed a month after her death.
Andino, of Ridgefield, died in a hospital two days after the accident, according to the suit, filed in Superior Court of Bergen County.
