These women shaped history; Exhibit documenting champions of women’s suffrage on display in Florence Updated Apr 03, 2021; Facebook Share A year-and-a-half ago, hoping to learn about forgotten champions of the women’s suffrage movement, the Northampton area chapter of the League of Women Voters started a book club. “We knew about the well-known ones like Susan B. Anthony, but we suspected that there were many others, particularly women of color who had been very active in the cause, but as often happens in history, were not recorded,” Margaret Riddle, the chapter secretary, said. In the course of its reading, the group discovered an exhibit at Pittsfield’s Berkshire Museum highlighting those exact historical figures.
