Some of the invited guest will include donors, funders, town and state officials, construction workers and community partners. The  event is scheduled for 2 pm. Regional Planning Commission Gives Feedback on 2020 Census Change

  BRPC s Executive Committee unanimously approved the document on Thursday, which includes concerns for proposals that will eliminate Great Barrington and Lee/Lenox as urban clusters and reclassify the urban area of Pittsfield.     We have concerns regarding several of the criteria, the letter reads. Berkshire County, located in western Massachusetts, currently has one urban area and three urban clusters. Based upon our analysis of the new criteria using 2010 data, the new criteria will result in the region reduced to two urban areas of less than 50,000.   An urbanized area is a densely populated area that is defined by advanced geographic information systems (GIS) modeling. The Berkshire s current urbanized area is most of Pittsfield and Dalton, little bits of Hinsdale, Lenox, Richmond, and Lanesborough, a corridor that goes through Cheshire, and most of Adams. This is usually called the Pittsfield Metro Area.

Creed to the new position of vice president of distribution and logistics.    Creed is responsible for leading Big Y’s distribution teams at their newly expanded 430,000 square foot Fresh & Local Distribution Center in Springfield. In addition, he will serve as an advisor to the Board of Directors. He reports to Michael P. D’Amour, executive vice president and COO.     He began his career in 1979 with Stop & Shop, Inc. where he held various positions including produce and grocery receiving and operations. Throughout his career, he’s held positions of increasing responsibility at companies such as Spartan Stores in Michigan where he was the assistant warehouse manager. At C & S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. in Massachusetts and Vermont, he started as facility manager and then became director of perishables distribution.

Hopes are high that healing has begun after an ongoing squabble caused a member of the selectboard, who also serves as the town clerk, to resign both positions abruptly via email last week. The resignation of Gail Garrett has thrown the Mount Washington town government into a state of confusion. Garrett was both a selectboard and town clerk candidate in the May 11 elections, but withdrew after a tumultuous selectboard meeting earlier this month..
