BToto posts RM1 1b revenue despite challenging environment

PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd (BToto) posted a revenue of RM1.12 billion for its third quarter ended March 31, 2021, a 15.8% decline from RM1.33 billion reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous year mainly due to lower contribution from Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd which was mitigated by stronger results from HR Owen Plc. Its pretax profit for the quarter stood at RM35.42 million, a 52.4% decline from RM74.34 million reported previously. The group’s principal subsidiary Sports Toto registered a decrease in revenue and pre-tax profit of 36.1% and 65.1%, respectively for the quarter due to the implementation of MCO 2.0 across Malaysia except Sarawak from Jan 13 to Feb 19. It also saw a slower sales recovery after resuming operations due to wear consumer sentiments and a higher prize payout.

More betting outlets to be closed starting tomorrow as Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah placed under MCO 2 0

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 21): More betting outlets of number forecast operators (NFOs) throughout the country will be closed from tomorrow until Feb 4 as the government reimposed a Movement Control Order (MCO) on the remaining states in Peninsular Malaysia. This means all betting outlets in the country, except for Sarawak that has been placed under a Conditional Movement Control Order, will be temporarily closed. All three Magnum Bhd, Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd (Da Ma Cai) have each updated their respective official notices on their websites about the closure of their outlets in MCO 2.0 areas. Outlets in Kedah, Pahang, Perak, Perlis and Negeri Sembilan will be temporarily closed from tomorrow until Feb 4.
