Shyla Heal, the daughter of Boomers great Shane, has been taken in the top ten of this year s WNBA draft.
The 19-year-old was picked with the eighth selection by the Chicago Sky, who finished sixth in the standings last year before being bundled out in the first round of the play-offs.
Since debuting in the WNBL as a 14-year-old, Heal has played for the South East Queensland Stars, Perth Lynx , Bendigo Spirit and Townsville Fire.
Heal averaged 14 points per game for the Fire as they made it to last year s WNBL grand final, losing 99-82 to the Southside Flyers.
