William N. âBillâ Jennewein, 75, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton from complications of COVID-19 virus.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with the Rev. Fr. Larry Regynski as celebrant. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors accorded by Ernest Bowyer VFW Post 791 Honor Guard and SDARNG Honor Guard.

Bill was born April 19, 1945, in Olympia Washington to William P. and Evelyn (Bruning) Jennewein, both of Breda, Iowa. After his fatherâs discharge from the Army the family returned to Breda, where Bill attended elementary school and graduated from St. Bernard Catholic High School in 1963. You are so generous with your contributions to the Beverly Waterford Food Pantry. Your donations are overwhelming. To the schools, churches, businesses, organizations and individuals, you have made it possible to feed those in our communities that need help. There is no way we can do this without you. You have shown this is very important to you.
The food drives and monetary donations are very important to us. The food pantry is a service that provides much needed help in Waterford and Watertown townships. We have been in operation almost 30 years and through the help given, we have been able to help some over a rough place in their life so they can move on. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors accorded by Ernest Bowyer VFW Post #791 Honor Guard and SDARNG Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory in Yankton, with masks required and social distancing practices to be observed. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
