The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Staff Senate has recognized four staff members who are pursuing degrees while working full-time at UA Little Rock.
Two UA Little Rock staff members received a $250 Staff Senate Scholarship. The winners include Claire Mitchell, an alumni affairs specialist in the Office of Alumni and Development, and Thomas Redd, IT systems administrator at the William H. Bowen School of Law.
The winners of the Jerry Crittenden Employee Book Scholarship include Constance Williams, positive parenting program practitioner at MidSouth, and Alyssa Hall, an admissions specialist in the Office of Admissions.

WARRENTON â Nurturing Parenting Classes are scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 23. Classes are held each Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Warren Family Institute Inc., at 427 W. Franklin St. Warrenton.
The Nurturing Parenting Program is a 16-week curriculum designed to increase family communication and provide age appropriate developmental expectations of children.
Parents are encouraged to develop relationships with their children to provide closeness through bonding and attachment. Parents learn to handle feelings and take charge of their own behavior. Practical, effective techniques are taught for handling challenging conflict and the use of proper discipline when necessary.
Classes take place in a supportive and confidential atmosphere. The Nurturing Parenting Program is an evidence-based curriculum supported by Smart Start.

The Triple P discussion groups, which parents can join anytime, take place at the following locations and also available remotely with Zoom.

Even if youâre an experienced parent, youâll add to your child-rearing toolkit in a free series on Active Parenting classes coached by Tawnee Johnson, Rim Countryâs youth and family educator with Arizona Youth Partnershipâs Starting Out Right program.
Due to COVID-19 social distancing and safety precautions, classes that met in-person a year ago moved online, and a new series begins Feb. 24.
Participants earn more than parental coping skills, they also get free diapers and a limited number of childrenâs car seats are also available.
