Alison Collins wants $87 million for damage to her career. These SFUSD employees say she destroyed theirs By Heather Knight
Using dramatic language interspersed with poems, biblical passages and accusations of racism, her March lawsuit detailed how the vote a response to comments Collins made on social media attacking Asian Americans had harmed her career, reputation and enjoyment of life while causing anxiety, fear, embarrassment and “spiritual injury to her soul.”
About 2,500 miles from San Francisco, in Oaxaca, Mexico, Patricia Theel could only marvel at the irony.
Someone had come after Theel, directly causing her, she said, to lose two jobs she loved, the first as principal of Francisco Middle School in North Beach and then in the district’s special education department. CHANDLER, AZ â Many parents became teachers overnight during the pandemic when brick-and-mortar schools shut down to in-person learning. The quick and rapid change for parents proved to make them more aware of the job behind teaching, giving many a renewed appreciation for what educators do.
âWe just want them to know how much as parents, PTO, students we appreciate everything theyâve done,â said Melissa Mundt, a parent at Weinberg Gifted Academy in the East Valley.

For months before Teacher Appreciation Week, the students, parents, and administrators at the academy were hard at work getting all the logistics planned out to surprise the staff with handmade posters, banners, capes, and shields made for the teachers they consider to be superheroes.

To the Editor:
On Sunday, June 13, Tisbury voters will gather for a special town meeting on the school. The parent members of the Tisbury PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) would like to join the Tisbury select board, Tisbury school committee, and Tisbury finance committee with
wholehearted support for the Tisbury School renovation and addition project.
As parents, we understand the value of education for our children. It creates the foundation for their development, and provides a strong base for lifelong learning. At the Tisbury School, our children are being nurtured today to become adult citizens of tomorrow. Their growth is dependent on the quality of their education and their school.

NEW AUGUSTA, Miss. (WDAM) - Monday, May 3, kicks off Teacher Appreciation Week in the Magnolia State.
This year, Teacher Appreciation Week is more important than ever after a year of complications with COVID-19 and the transitions between remote and in-person learning.
To show their appreciation, the Parent-Teacher Organization for Perry County School District has a week full of treats for the teachers.
“We have something every day for our teachers,” said PTO president Shelly Lott. “Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, they will each receive a gift. Tuesday, we have a luncheon for them and Friday, a breakfast.”
