A man charged following the discovery of a bomb beside a police officer s car in Dungiven has been remanded in custody.
Kieran McCool, 52, from Ederowen Park, is charged with three counts of possessing improvised explosive devices.
He is also charged with preparatory acts of terrorism and possessing a mobile phone for use in terrorism.
The court heard Mr McCool was a bombmaker on behalf of the New IRA .
Belfast Magistrates Court was told the explosive devices charges relate to the bomb attack in Dungiven in April of this year, to a device found in the Skeoge Road in Derry in July 2016 and to a mortar device discovered in Strabane in September 2019.
A 52-year-old man has been charged with terrorism offences.
He has been charged with five offences, including preparatory acts of terrorism, possession of articles for use in terrorism as well as three separate charges of possession of explosive devices with intent to endanger life.
The man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday 14 May and all charges are to be reviewed by the PPS.
The charges are in connection with the discovery of improvised explosive devices at Ballyquin Road, Dungiven on 19 April 2021 and Skeoge Road, Londonderry on 9 July 2016, and the discovery of an improvised mortar bomb device at Church View, Strabane on 7 September 2019.

He will appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today charged with 5 offences, including preparatory acts of terrorism, possession of articles for use in terrorism as well as three separate charges of possession of explosive devices with intent to endanger life.

A man facing 63 gun charges after shots were fired in north Belfast had done the Good Samaritan and gone wrong , a court has heard.
Mark Daniel Waller, 32, of Crumlin Road, Belfast, faces charges including having a gun and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.
The court heard that in follow-up searches, which included Mr Waller s home, 27 suspected firearms were found.
These included four shotguns, a number of pistols and ammunition.
The 63 charges relate to a shooting incident at Silverstream Road and Manor Street on Sunday, 2 May.
Belfast Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday that police received a report that a man had smashed a window at a house in Manor Street.
