Originally from Dublin, Lawlor was widely reported to have been heavily involved in a feud between rival Drogheda-based factions. He had been linked to the abduction and murder of 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods in January this year. The gunman then fled down side streets to Kingston Court where a Volkswagen Scirocco, stolen from Co Roscommon in January and left there as a potential getaway car, was instead set on fire, the court heard.

Northern Ireland man accused of Buckfast bottle threat to railway staff

A man who allegedly tried to attack a member of train station staff with a Buckfast bottle claimed he was high on alcohol and drugs at the time, a court has been told. South Belfast based Vincent Martin Irvine (36) is also accused of damaging hand sanitiser bottles after pushing over a display at Botanic Avenue station in the city. A police officer told Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday that on Thursday at around 10.50am Irvine was in the station and spoke to a male member of customer service staff before lighting a cigarette. Irvine was told he couldn’t smoke indoors after which he took a bottle of Buckfast from his pocket. He was then told he couldn’t drink alcohol on a train and asked to leave the station.

A man who allegedly kicked his friend to death and tried to carve the word rat into his chest is to stand trial for his murder, a judge ordered today. Sarunas Nauburaitis, 34, is also accused of stealing and using a bank card belonging to the victim whose body lay undiscovered for up to a week. Police found 44-year-old Maris Ludborzs lying dead in the kitchen of the defendant s north Belfast home in May this year. A sleeping bag had been placed over his body and a toy skeleton rodent was located in his boxer shorts, detectives previously disclosed. Mr Ludborzs identity was only confirmed after checks were carried out in his native Latvia.

Laganside Court in Belfast 18 December, 2020 01:00 A PATIENT who punched and head-butted another man in a Belfast hospital has been jailed for three months. Prosecutors said Marcus Creighton also inflicted further blows while the victim was on the ground. The 28-year-old, of Lenadoon Avenue in the city, pleaded guilty to common assault and disorderly behaviour. Belfast Magistrates Court heard police called to the Royal Victoria Hospital on October 15 this year discovered two men being separated by security staff and members of the public. Creighton had attacked the injured party following a row which left onlookers upset and alarmed, according to a Crown lawyer.
