A man has been charged over alleged fraud relating to bushfire support recovery grants.
Strike Force Roche was established by several police districts within the Northern Region to investigate alleged fraudulent claims for bushfire disaster relief and small business grants through government agencies.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives from Lake Macquarie Police District charged a 28-year-old man with six counts of dishonestly obtain financial benefit by deception and two counts of attempt dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.
Police will allege in court the man fraudulently obtained six NSW Government grants, receiving a total of $60,000 and attempted to obtain a further two NSW Government grants totalling $20,000.

Car collides with unmarked police vehicle; woman charged with high-range PCA – Belmont
A woman has been charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly colliding with an unmarked police car whilst more than four times the legal limit in Lake Macquarie.
About 5.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 January 2021), a male senior constable stopped in the breakdown lane of the Pacific Highway, Belmont, in an unmarked police vehicle.
A short time later, a Ford Focus travelling north has veered into the breakdown lane and collided with the rear of the stationary police vehicle.
The officer called for assistance with additional police and emergency services attending. He and the Ford driver, a 42-year-old woman, underwent a roadside breath test, which the woman allegedly returned a positive reading.

At around 5.15pm yesterday, a Senior Constable had pulled over in the breakdown lane of the Pacific Highway at Belmont, when a car smashed into the rear of his vehicle.
Emergency services and additional police were called to the scene, where both the officer and woman were breathalised.
It’s alleged the 42-year-old from Marks Point returned a positive reading of 0.214 – more than 4 times the legal limit.
Her license was suspended.
Two men faced court today charged with supplying drugs in the Lake Macquarie area.
Police were conducting patrols of the Gateshead area when they stopped and spoke with a 38-year-old man on Coral Crescent about 10.40am yesterday.
During a search, officers allegedly found he was carrying methylamphetamine.
He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.
About 4.40pm that same day, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Coral Crescent and arrested a 54-year-old man.
Police say they located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, and more than $20,000 in cash.
Both men were taken to Belmont Police Station, where the older man was charged with five offences, including supply indictable quantity prohibited drug, recklessly deal with the proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.

Two men will appear at court today charged over alleged drug offences in the Lake Macquarie area.
Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District have been investigating the alleged supply of prohibited drugs, mainly methylamphetamine, in the Windale and Gateshead areas.
As a result of ongoing inquiries, police were conducting patrols of the Gateshead area when they stopped and spoke with a 38-year-old man on Coral Crescent about 10.40am yesterday (Thursday 14 January 2021).
During a person search, officers allegedly located methylamphetamine.
