Staff Writer ST. CLAIRSVILLE As coronavirus cases surge across Ohio and the first vaccines are administered, three more Eastern Ohio resident deaths were reported Thursday. Belmont County Deputy Health Commissioner Robert Sproul reported two more county residents had died while infected with the virus. The Ohio Department of Health’s coronavirus.ohio.gov website also reported that another Jefferson County resident died, bringing total COVID-19 associated deaths there to 38. Sproul said 59 Belmont Countians have died after becoming infected with COVID-19. The latest are a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s. In total, the county has confirmed 3,043 positive cases since spring, with 1,009 people now isolated at home with active cases and 1,926 recoveries. Forty-nine residents are hospitalized with the illness.
