Though the COVID-19 pandemic has made public large-scale events like the annual Belleville General Hospital Foundation (BGHF) Gala impossible to host, organizers did not throw in the towel. Instead BGHF pivoted and hosted an âUnGala Galaâ on Wednesday night. Over 120 viewers joined online to pledge over $163,000 for priority medical equipment at Quinte Health Care â Belleville General Hospital.
BGHFâs âUnGalaâ invited the public to an online auction that ran from Dec 7th and wrapped up Dec 16th. The Foundation also livestreamed a âFund a Needâ segment with host Mark Philbin of 95.5 Hits FM that featured special guests from around the community, including a behind the scenes look at the oncology and ICU departments at the hospital.

Belleville General Hospital Foundation Executive Director Steve Cook says, âIn these unprecedented times BGHF has had to evolve and adapt rapidly, looking to alternative methods in order to meet our fundraising goals. We still have our yearly commitment to QHC to provide much needed medical equipment of which we have already given $1.5m.â

During a year of uncertainty for local nonprofit organizations, the Belleville General Hospital Foundation delivered another early Christmas present to Quinte Health Care this week of $500,000.
Since their first early gift of $1,000,000 a few weeks ago, BGH Foundation raised an additional $500,000 to help purchase priority medical equipment for Quinte Health Care Belleville General Hospital.
