Plummeting temperatures prompted the City of Belleville to open its warming centre Tuesday through the week to Thursday. With temps dipping into the negative double digits overnight, the city-sponsored warming centre opens on evenings when the temperatures drop below -10C for the city’s homeless to warm themselves. The centre does not offer beds or meals. This year, the warming centre was moved to the former Belleville Police Station at 93 Dundas St. East recently vacated by police who moved to their new Sidney and College Street digs.
