Three minors, woman appear over alleged murder of Parow man in home

Cape Town â Three minors and a 21-year-old woman made a brief appearance in the Bellville Magistrate s Court yesterday in connection with the murder of a 58-year-old Parow man.
Vincent Bartes s body was found inside his Welgelegen house on Sunday. He had been stabbed and his hands and feet bound.
According to private security company District Watch, at about 10pm on Sunday two of its officers were alerted to a loud noise in the area.
âIt reportedly sounded like a car accident. A short while later, officers were informed of a vehicle that had caused damage to a garage door at a premises in the area.
Murdered Vincent Bartes was burnt with boiling water, stabbed and suffocated.
His dead body was found in his Welgelegen home on Sunday.
Jamie Lee Moses, 21, together with three juveniles, aged between 15 and 17, appeared in the Bellville Magistrate s Court for the killing.

On Thursday, Jamie Lee Moses, 21, together with three juveniles, aged between 15 and 17, appeared in the Bellville Magistrate s Court for the killing.
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said the State would oppose bail owing to the seriousness of the charges.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on 21 January at about 11:20 at a premises in Protea Street, Ravensmead when members of Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit followed up on information of a firearm at the said address. The premises was searched and a 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition were found inside a safe.
A charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition were registered and is under investigation at Ravensmead SAPS. The suspect will appear at the Bellville Magistrate Court on 25 January 2021 on the mentioned charges.
Disgruntled criminal lawyers said the speed at which the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) dealt with the bail applications of alleged underworld trio, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, Mark Lifman, 56, and Willem Stevens, 66, and who were subsequently released on bail of R100,000, has set a dangerous precedent.
The men were arrested on 22 December 2020 on charges of murder and conspiracy to murder and released on bail within hours. Booysen and Stevens face an additional charge of money laundering.
