CPEC Corridor of Connectivity

CPEC has been conceived and designed to foster the economic development, the well-being of people without compromising the needs of future generations. It is the flagship project of the Belt & Route Initiative (BRI) with the elements of the Chinese vision of eco-civilization.
Apart from direct 83,000 jobs (latest figure of 2020) and indirect jobs through 100 SMEs, it also helped to improve the connectivity in and of Pakistan
Although the name suggests the key role of Pakistan and China, it has wider relevance for the region and beyond. A deep dive into the conceptual and implementation framework of CPEC highlights two major dimensions of the CPEC. First, it is designed to foster the economic revival and development of Pakistan. Second, it will enhance multidimensional connectivity at a wider scale.

Recently, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan repeatedly stressed the issue of scientific and technological innovation, believing that scientific and technological innovation is a driving force for Pakistan s social and economic development. On this issue, I interviewed Di Yuna, Executive Director，Pakistan Study Center of Science & Technology and Economy at Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU). What she talked about is as follows:
As early as November 2018, China and Pakistan jointly issued a statement, which clearly pointed out that the two countries should strengthen cooperation in the fields of ocean, S&T, aerospace, environment and agriculture, and expand the application of relevant science and technology in the fields of health, agriculture, water resources, energy and food safety, so as to improve the living standards of the Pakistani people.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world landed a severe blow on the global economy in 2020, China and other countries along the Belt and Road have secured hard-won results and made solid progress in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has shown impressive resilience, vitality and appeal amid the pandemic.
Last year, countries along the Belt and Road fought against the virus through solidarity and put into practice the idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind in international anti-epidemic cooperation.
When China was in the depth of its own fight against the COVID-19, countries along the Belt and Road actively supported the Chinese people. A total of 79 countries and 10 international organizations have provided anti-epidemic materials for China.
